“Which of your fears have come true?”
Recently my husband, Jon, asked me this from a “book of questions” we read from together and this question had me totally shook. I thought about this question long and hard and then realized…
Nothing I’ve ever spent time feeling anxious about or fearing has ever really come true! When you think of it from this perspective, anxiety feels like a big waste of time doesn’t it?
It actually makes anxiety a comical experience when you look at it from this perspective…
I had a moment of laughter to myself thinking of all the hours I’ve wasted in my life worrying about shit that hasn’t happened yet. Why do we do these things to ourselves? Well, that’s a blog post for another day.
This questions reminded of this truth:
*Your anxiety is usually always lying to you*
The reason I wanted to share it with you is because I know you probably waste so much of your precious life worrying about shit that hasn’t happened yet. Life is too short to spend your days worrying about stories and self-created lies that you’ve made up in your own mind. They aren’t real!!!!!
Whatever story you’ve got worked up in your head about a perceived fear or threat, remember that you’re afraid of something that hasn’t happened yet. In fact, you’re fearing something that will most likely never happen!
When I find myself lost in false stories and perceptions that create fear in my body & mind, I repeat this to myself over and over again…
“Your anxiety is lying to you Gianna”
I repeat this to myself because my anxiety usually it is always lying to me and even if that thing I’m fearing DOES happen, I trust I’ll figure it out when the time comes.
Next time you’re lost in a stream of anxious thoughts…
Breathe, put one hand on your heart and remind yourself:
YOUR ANXIETY IS LYING TO YOU
You got this, you really do.
Sending you so much love and mental clarity!
In Beauty,
-Gianna
