Welcome to my blog! I’m Gianna Badot, host of The Rewired Podcast, certified hypnotherapist, somatic guide, meditation teacher, and mother of two. Today, I want to share a deeply personal story: my journey to an unmedicated, natural childbirth using the power of hypnobirthing. I intend to offer hope and practical tools for expecting mothers longing for an empowering, mindful, and positive birth experience.
Why I Chose Hypnobirthing for My Natural Childbirth
If you’ve ever thought about having a natural birth, chances are you’ve heard about hypnobirthing. This technique combines guided relaxation, visualization, and affirmations to help you reprogram subconscious patterns and release fears about birth. With my first child, I intended to have an unmedicated birth but ended up needing an epidural due to unforeseen circumstances and a lack of complete preparation. The experience taught me so much, especially about the importance of inner work before labor and delivery.
When I became pregnant with my second child, I knew I wanted to dive deeper into hypnobirthing. This time I was clear in my intentions, set strong boundaries, and devoted time every day to subconscious reprogramming for childbirth using visualization and meditative audio tracks.
How I Prepared for a Natural Birth—And Why the Mind Matters
Each evening, I dedicated five to ten minutes to visualizing my ideal birth. I listened to recordings, sometimes twice daily, programming my subconscious mind to believe in a positive, natural childbirth. Repetition is vital: the subconscious is like a garden, and what we repeatedly plant—whether thoughts or images—will grow.
Hypnobirthing isn’t about creating a pain-free birth (yes, there was pain!). Instead, it empowers you to ride the waves, remain grounded, and regulate your body and mind—even during intense moments of labor.
Overcoming Unexpected Challenges During Labor
My journey wasn’t without surprises. My second baby arrived almost two weeks late, at 41+6 weeks. Every day that passed without labor tested my trust in my body, but persistent hypnobirthing reinforced my intuition and confidence. Even when my midwives suggested induction, I remained calm, checking in with my body and baby’s health before making any decisions.
During labor, there were moments I could have panicked—like when my baby’s head got stuck against my cervix at 8–9 cm for hours. But because of my hypnobirthing work, I stayed focused on my breath and connected to my body, even as others in the room were surprised by my composure.
Eventually, I allowed my midwife to break my water at nine and a half centimeters. That decision felt aligned, and minutes later, I birthed my healthy nine-pound son, Jackson Jeremy Badot—a beautiful surprise since we didn’t know the gender in advance!
The Gifts of Hypnobirthing: Calm, Connected, and Empowered
The true power of hypnobirthing isn’t about controlling the outcome of your birth but how you feel during it. Even when birth goes off script, you gain the tools to stay grounded, tune into your intuition, and make decisions from a place of love—not fear.
Looking back, I realized just how empowered and equipped I felt. There was never a moment I wished for the epidural. All the subconscious and emotional regulation work truly paid off, leaving me excited at the thought of giving birth again (not immediately, of course!).
What Is Hypnobirthing, Really?
The approach I take with clients—and myself—is deeply focused on fear release. We clear old programming, generational beliefs, and traumas that may keep us stuck in patterns of tension and worry. When you let go of fear, your intuition and body can lead the way. That’s how you set the stage for a connected, peaceful birth—no matter what twists and turns arrive.
Empowering More Women Through Mindful Birth
I want every mother-to-be to know it’s possible to feel confident and empowered in childbirth, even when things don’t go as planned. Whether you’re choosing an unmedicated route or open to interventions, hypnobirthing and subconscious preparation can dramatically shift your experience.
If my story resonated, please share your thoughts and spread the word. I wish you a grounded, intuitive, and empowered birth experience—wherever your journey takes you.
