Welcome back to The Awakened Self Podcast! I’m Gianna Badot, your host, certified hypnotherapist, holistic coach, and meditation guide. In today’s episode, we’re diving into a topic that touches all of our lives—money mindset wounds, especially those we inherit from our parents and the adults who shaped our early years.
If you’ve ever felt held back financially, struggled with anxious spending, or sensed an undercurrent of “not enough,” you’re not alone. In this blog, I’m unpacking the top three unconscious money wounds that may be impacting your financial reality more than you know. My goal: to help you achieve greater abundance, peace, and a truly awakened financial self.
What Are Money Mindset Wounds?
Growing up, we absorb more than we realize. The ways our parents (or other close adult figures) talked about and interacted with money, shape the subconscious beliefs we carry into adulthood. Whether your family struggled to pay bills, frequently voiced worries, or spent impulsively, these patterns set your default “lens” on money (and abundance).
Here’s the empowering truth: it’s not your fault you have these money wounds—but it is your responsibility to heal, rewire, and choose beliefs that serve you.
The Top 3 Money Mindset Wounds
Through years of working with clients, I’ve seen higher awareness around money blocks—but many still operate on autopilot, not realizing how these wounds hold them back. Let’s explore the three most common unconscious money wounds I discuss in the latest episode:
1. Unconscious Scarcity
This is the deeply ingrained feeling of “never enough”—whether it’s money in your bank account, what you buy, or your ability to support yourself and your loved ones. Scarcity eats away at you, creating a constant sense of lack and fear. If you feel stressed, anxious, or uneasy every time you check your balance or pay bills, you might be stuck in a scarcity cycle.
How to shift: Start by noticing your thoughts around money. Scarcity beliefs act like a subtraction sign for your bank account—they repel abundance. Rewire by practicing gratitude, affirming abundance, and trusting that money is energy flowing to you.
2. Inherited Frugality
Many of us struggle to spend money—especially on ourselves—not because we lack resources, but because of a deeply-rooted worthiness wound. Maybe your parents were frugal, reluctant to spend on themselves (or on you), and you absorbed that pattern. Now, you hesitate on even small acts of self-care or worthwhile investments.
How to shift: Recognize that worthiness isn’t something you earn—it’s innate. Affirm your right to invest in yourself and others. Break generational patterns by consciously practicing self-loving spending and receiving.
3. Reactive and Emotional Overspending
On the flip side, some of us over-spend—especially when stressed or trying to soothe emotional pain. Maybe you saw adults in your life shop impulsively, or buy gifts to “make up” for lost time or affection. Emotional spending fills a temporary void but leaves long-term financial stress and guilt.
How to shift: Tune into your emotions before buying. Are you trying to fill a void, or invest in genuine joy? Develop mindful purchasing habits and learn healthier ways to nurture yourself emotionally.
Why Most Mindset Shifts Don’t Last
You’ve probably tried budgeting tips, books, or willpower alone—but real change happens at the subconscious level. Most habits are formed early, when our minds are especially suggestible. Until you heal these wounds where they began—in the subconscious—you’ll only cover the problem with a band-aid.
Powerful Tools to Rewire Your Money Mindset
If you’re ready to move towards abundance, the most powerful tool I recommend is self-hypnosis. Yes, hypnosis may sound “woo”—but it’s been life-changing for me and hundreds of clients. Self-hypnosis reaches those deep subconscious beliefs and allows true, lasting transformation. I offer a free abundance hypnosis and 30 days access to my Rewired App—packed with self-hypnosis audios and meditations—to help you realign with positive money energy.

Remember: It’s Not Just About Money
Healing your money wounds isn’t just about growing your bank account. It’s about releasing anxiety, feeling worthy, and living with confidence. When you shift from scarcity to abundance, you attract not only money, but richer experiences, more gratitude, and a sense of true fulfillment.
Sending you love and abundance throughout every season—especially this holiday!
Love and light,
