How to Stop Negative Thoughts and Create the Reality You Want

If you’ve ever found yourself stuck in a cycle of negativity—whether it’s about your job, your relationships, or even your self-worth—you’re not alone. I’ve been there, and from my experience as a one-on-one coach, certified hypnotherapist, and meditation teacher, I know just how powerful those hidden negative thoughts can be.

The Truth: Your Thoughts Create Your Reality

Here’s something I talk about all the time on the podcast: Your thoughts are creating your reality all day, every day. That means both the conscious thoughts and the unconscious ones swirling beneath the surface are shaping your experiences and outcomes.

Most people don’t even realize how much negativity is lurking under the surface. If you notice bad vibes, mood swings, or that “off” feeling in your body, it’s likely being triggered by your thoughts—typically negative ones you’re not fully aware of. I can relate! There was a time when I thought of myself as a positive person, but once I started truly observing my mind, I was surprised by how often those sneaky negative patterns crept in.

Why Do We Think Negatively?

For most of us, negative thinking is rooted in old programming—learned behaviors from childhood, from the adults around us, and from the world at large. Your subconscious mind sometimes believes it’s safer to expect the worst. It keeps you “on guard,” but in reality, it’s holding you back from creating the experiences you truly desire.

You have to remember that you’re in charge. You are the boss of your mind and your reality—even if it doesn’t always feel that way!

Step 1: Build Radical Self-Awareness

The first step toward changing your thoughts is radical self-observation. Study your mind. Pay attention to the words that come out of your mouth, the feelings in your body, and the patterns that show up again and again. Notice negative situations or relationships in your life and ask, “How am I thinking about this? Is there a more positive perspective I could take?”

Often, when we change our thoughts about a situation, the situation itself begins to shift.

Step 2: Rewire Your Subconscious Mind

Here’s where things get really exciting! Your subconscious runs on autopilot 24/7 and is the seat of most habitual thoughts. To really move from negativity to positivity, you need to work with your subconscious—not against it.

Tools like hypnotherapy and self-hypnosis are absolute game-changers. They help you access your subconscious and “reprogram” old thought patterns with new, empowering beliefs. When you pair conscious awareness with subconscious rewiring, you become unstoppable.

Step 3: Insert New, Positive Programming

To manifest what you want, you have to clearly visualize the reality you desire at a subconscious level. Ask yourself: “What kind of energy do I want to feel every day? What beliefs and thoughts align with my vision?” When you intentionally place those positive scripts into your subconscious mind, you’ll start to see your reality shift around you
