How I Awakened My Intuition (And You Can Too)

Today, I want to walk you through these insights here, so you, too, can start living in deeper alignment with your true self.

What Is Intuition—and Why Should We Care?

Your intuition is your internal guidance system—a wellspring of wisdom that lives within each of us. It’s that feeling, that deep knowing you can’t always explain with logic. If you think about moments in your life where you just knew what to do, even when it didn’t make logical sense, that was your intuition speaking.

For years, I let my logical mind steer the ship, analyzing every decision, talking things through with others, and often ending up more confused than before. Sound familiar? What I’ve learned, both personally and through my work as a hypnotherapist, is that logic can take us far, but our intuition is what truly knows what’s right for us.

Why Do We Lose Touch With Our Intuition?

Life has a way of clouding our inner wisdom. From the roles we play, the traumas we experience, and the constant “to-do” lists, our intuitive voice can become deeply buried. Even if you’ve felt highly intuitive in the past, it’s completely normal for that connection to wane during stressful or busy seasons.

I want to reassure you: your intuition never disappears. It just gets layered under stress, anxiety, busyness, and unhealed wounds. Our job is to gently peel those layers back and tune in again.

The Secret to Awakening Your Intuition

So, how do we reawaken our intuition? Here’s what I practice and teach:

1. Clear Out the Noise

The first step is to quiet your mind and clear the clutter. Overthinking, overanalyzing, and constant stress act like static and block your intuition. Commit to spending time each day unplugged from external demands so you can reconnect with yourself.

2. Meditation and Deep Breathing

Meditation is my go-to tool for diving within. This doesn’t have to be a long or complicated ritual—even just five to ten minutes a day of closing your eyes, focusing on your breath, and feeling into your body can make a huge difference. Guided meditations (like my Rewired Meditations) are especially helpful if your mind feels busy or unsettled.

3. Shift From Thinking to Feeling

Your logical mind is amazing for planning and problem-solving, but to access intuition, you have to turn on your “feeling mind.” When I work with clients, we focus on moving from the head to the body—from thought to sensation. Ask yourself, “What do I feel in this moment?” Let your body give you a full-body “yes” or “no.”

4. Consistent Practice

Like any skill, staying connected to your intuition takes regular practice. Life will throw curveballs, and old patterns may resurface, but the more often you practice listening within, the quicker and easier it becomes to find your intuitive voice—even in the chaos.

5. Do Your Healing Work

If you’re carrying unhealed trauma or unresolved emotions, these can form barriers to your intuition. Gentle self-inquiry, therapy, and healing practices can all help clear the path so your inner wisdom flows freely.

Living From an Intuitive Place

One of my favorite reminders is: “Your intuition can never guide you down the wrong path.” When you’re tuned in, decisions become easier and life feels more aligned. Instead of chasing happiness and peace through constant striving or external validation, you generate those feelings from within.

You’ll still use your logical mind—of course!—but your intuition is the compass. Together, they’re a powerful team.

If you’re ready to awaken your intuition, start with just five minutes a day. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and simply feel. If your mind feels too busy at first, consider using a guided meditation (like the Rewired Meditations I mention on the podcast). Over time, you’ll find yourself making decisions from a calm, grounded place and living a life that truly feels like yours.

Remember: every answer you need is already inside you. Trust your intuition—it’s always working for your highest good.
